How it works

For every photo donated, Johnson & Johnson gives $1 US to Pro Mujer. That $1 US helps provide a low-income woman in Latin America with a comprehensive package of financial, educational, and healthcare services that are typically out of reach, but essential to breaking the cycle of poverty. It takes 200 photos to give a package of services to one woman.

Pro Mujer, "Pro Women" in Spanish, trail-blazes new paths for low-income women in Latin America. They empower women to transform their lives and ignite greater social and economic opportunities for themselves and their families through a unique combination of financial services, preventive healthcare, mutual support, and training.

Pro Mujer’s unique model sparks a powerful chain reaction. Women are able to increase their earnings, form strong support networks and uplift their peers, invest in their health, homes and families, expand their micro-businesses, finance their children’s education and careers, and become leaders in their communities.

Pro Mujer serves nearly 300,000 women annually. Over 25 years, Pro Mujer has disbursed more than $1 billion in small loans and has empowered more than one million women and their 6. 4 million children and family members in Argentina, Bolivia, Mexico Nicaragua, and Peru.
