How it works

For every photo donated, Johnson & Johnson gives US$1 US to either the Canadian Spinal Research Organization (CSRO) or American Spinal Research Organization (ASRO) in support of the Shoot for a Cure and Connected campaigns. In partnership with StopConcussions Foundation, each US$1 US helps the CSRO/ASRO fund programs that increase awareness and assist in the prevention and cure of neurotrauma injuries and mental health. It takes 25 photos to provide 1 hour of neurotrauma research.

Shoot for a Cure (SFAC) is a fundraising collaborative committed to monetarily supporting and assisting the prevention and cure of neurotrauma injuries as well as mental health awareness.

Connected is a mental health initiative that aims to reconnect and change the mental health mindset Millions of Americans and Canadians live with injuries relating to the brain or spine.

A large portion of these injuries are a result of a sporting activity – like the 1 in 5 high school athletes who sustain concussions every season. Many individuals have expressed post injury stress and anxiety, our findings have shown that these neurological issues can lead to severe depression, addiction and in many cases, suicide. However, often times these neurotraumas can be prevented by taking simple steps. Shoot for a Cure hopes to put a spotlight on these serious issues that impact so many people, from those affected to their loved ones. SFAC is an international campaign that combines key neurotrauma communities such as the Canadian Spinal Research Organization (CSRO), the American Spinal Research Organization (ASRO), StopConcussions Foundation, and Connected: a mental health initiative. United around a common cause, they seek to raise $10 million over the next 5 years. The BIG goals? SFAC not only wants to help those coping with neurotrauma and/or a mental health illness, but to live more comfortably and save hundreds of millions on health care costs. SFAC also trains hockey players, coaches, and other athletes on how to prevent neurotrauma from occurring in the first place.
