How it works

For every photo you donate, Johnson & Johnson gives US $1 US to Sight for Kids - a Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) program. That US $1 US helps raise local eye health awareness and identify, refer and correct visual impairment in underserved school children.  Johnson & Johnson Vision has been a proud supporter of this program since 2002. It takes 1 photo to help protect the sight of four children.

Seeing clearly is critical for children since an estimated 80% of classroom learning happens through the use of their eyes. About 1.4 million children around the world are blind, three-quarters of them living in the poorest regions of Asia and Africa without access to treatment for easily correctable conditions like nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. This lack of vision awareness and treatment access contributes to refractive errors being the leading cause of visual impairment and blindness in children worldwide.

Since 2002, Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) and Johnson & Johnson Vision have worked together to provide eye health education and screen the vision of more than 24 million children in select cities in China, Hong Kong, India, Kenya, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam.  Of those, over 900,00 children have been referred to local eye care professionals for exams, and about 440,000 have received glasses or treatment for various eye conditions.

Sight for Kids is one of the longest running, and largest, international school vision-screening programs continuing as a public-private initiative across multiple countries in Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe, including developing countries.
