Every year, more than one million U.S. students drop out of high school. That means fewer young Americans are earning diplomas than their parents—a statistic shared by no other industrialized country in the world. That’s why United Way is working to make sure that children and young adults are beginning school with the skills they need to succeed, staying on track with their reading by fourth grade, transitioning successfully to and from middle school, graduating high school on time, and are either working or in advanced education by the time they’re 21 years old.
United Way Worldwide is a global organization that fights for the health, education and financial stability of every person, in every community. For over 125 years United Way has brought together corporate, nonprofit, private, faith-based and government partners to build stronger communities that focus on improving people’s lives – early education, childhood and youth success, economic mobility and access to health. United Way’s 1,800 local affiliates in 40 countries and territories raise more than $5 billion and impact millions of lives every year.
